About EFT

What is EFT?

EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) is based on the connection between your body’s subtle energies, your health and emotions. It uses a gentle form of touch, similar to needle-free acupuncture, to rebalance and unblock your energy and help restore well-being. It is gentle, simple and completely safe. The results are usually permanent. It is sometimes known as “tapping”.

What conditions can be helped by EFT?

EFT has helped a huge range of different issues, both emotional and physical. These include:

Emotional Issues:
Stress and anxiety, depression, fears and phobias, panic attacks, low self esteem, relationship issues and procrastination, writer’s block, feeling stuck in a situation

Weight Issues:

for weight loss, food cravings and addictions, negative body image.

Eating Issues:

from anorexia and bulimia to simply feeling you have an unhealthy or uncomfortable relationship with food.

Performance Issues:

including sports performance and public speaking. Any area where you you wonder if you have reached your “ceiling” but would love to break through and go beyond it

Children’s Issues:

from bullying to bedwetting or attachment challenges, EFT is a wonderful, gentle and non-intrusive tool for helping children to manage the stresses in their lives. All my children love using EFT – especially with the “Magic Tapping Bear”!


For stopping smoking, drug and alcohol dependency, and other addictive behaviours.

Serious and Chronic Illness:

By clearing the blocks in your energy system and eliminating patterns of negative thinking or emotional pain/baggage you may be carrying, it is incredible how even the most serious, longstanding and “incurable” health conditions can begin to improve. EFT has been documented to be effective for a huge range of physical conditions, and my clients frequently experience improvement in their physical health as we tap away their emotional issues. How can tapping on myself improve my health or emotional state?

EFT is like acupuncture for the emotions. It clears away negative emotions and emotional baggage by clearing away the energy disturbance in your system and rebalancing your energy meridians. And, since emotional stress can contribute to pain, disease and physical ailments, EFT can often provide astonishing physical relief.

The best way to find out is to come and experience an EFT session for yourself, as the benefits EFT brings are more easily experienced than described.

What will happen in an EFT session?

In a typical EFT session, your EFT practitioner will ask you to talk about your problem, whilst tapping, or showing you how to tap, specific points on your face or body. You will remain fully clothed, sitting comfortably in a chair. You may tell the practitioner as much or as little as you wish – as long as you know what you are referring to with the words you use, the tapping will clear the emotions surrounding the issue. Because of this, EFT is good for helping people to deal with issues which they find traumatic or difficult to talk about.

How many sessions will I need?

A member of staff at St John’s Hospital in West Lothian, says that by using EFT, he has been able to reduce 30 sessions of traditional therapy to as few as 3. Some issues can be cleared, permanently, with as little as 1 session of EFT. For complex problems, where there are different aspects and issues to consider and tap on, several sessions may be needed. Sometimes clients come with what they think is a huge issue, to find that it clears with EFT surprisingly quickly. Other times, other issues emerge after one layer of the problem has been “dealt with”, leading to further work. EFT is an empowering therapy as you can learn the simple techniques and use them for yourself at home.
